"Lyrics Born has built his career on steadily providing colorful West Coast underground hip-hop along with a diverse musical taste that's quickly become his pride. After dealing with traces of funk, blues and dancehall on his previous releases, Lyrics Born looks to keep the eclecticism going with his third studio album, with tracks such as the cabaret-esque "Lies X 3," the electro-tinged "Pushed Aside, Pulled Apart" and the old-school clap of "Funky Hit Records." The list of collaborators should be to familiar to Lyrics Born fans. Lateef The Truthspeaker and Joyo Velarde guest on the album, along with production from Jake One and Trackademicks, all who have worked with with the Bay Area MC in the past." "Big Mister Doom are a leeds-based electronica duo also known as Ian Scott and Joe Wretham.
After first meeting at university whilst studying music production and touching base musically in a 6-piece funk/rock band (think early Chilli Peppers only noisier and much more abrasive), Ian and Joe began to develop a common interest in off-kilter leftfield electronic music. In 2008 they began experimenting with their own tracks, gradually nurturing their skills as producers and ripening ideas for the sound of Big Mister Doom. Originally inspired by Aphex Twin, Telafon Tel Aviv and Amon Tobin; Ian and Joe have diversified, written tracks, thrown out those tracks and re-written them many times looking for their ideal sound.
The result is a dense, detailed blend of carefully crafted atmospheric textures, whirring, clicking, popping samples and dramatic, soaring melodies all served on a bed of skittering beats and deep bass. Fusing elements of electronica, dub, minimal techno and avante-garde hip hop; Big Mister Doom‘s music is an eclectic liquification of genres, influences and both acoustic and electronic sounds – ranging from violins, clarinets and synthesizers to plane engines, bomb detectors, and whacked out samples of passing parades.
2010 will see the first of their tracks to emerge from the studio with the release of a self-titled EP and remix work for artists such as the Eskimo Twins. Currently working on new material and developing a DJ and Live set expect to hear much more of Big Mister Doom in the very near future."

"QK10 draws near its close with the release of Deacon The Villain & Sheisty Khrist’s brand joint-project, Niggaz With Latitude (NWL.).
After an explosive appearance by Sheisty Khrist on CunninLynguists 2008 album Dirty AcresNiggaz With Latitude was born. left fans clamoring for more, Deacon The Villain searched for the perfect opportunity to pair his long-overlooked talents as a producer with Sheisty’s bombastic vocals in an album format. Thus, the concept for
This 13-track gem is produced entirely by Deacon The Villain, with two clutch offerings from fellow QN5 beatsmiths Kno(of CunninLynguists) and Kokayi. Guest vocal appearances are scored by Natti, PackFM, Mino Slick, the aforementioned Kno & Bianca Spriggs along with the musical stylings of Soul Akoben and guitarist Willie Eames.
Tracks like “American Greed” and Rip The Guts” take the listener for a tour of society’s shadowy corners while “Ascension” and “Final Call” connect with an airy spirituality not-often heard in modern Hip Hop. An open-booth policy was kept during the recording process, with the Kentucky-natives trading places often, challenging each other to up the ante with each verse. The result is a thoroughly dense, rough-around-the-edges musical bombshell that manages to add another distinctively insightful chapter into the annals of southern soul."

"For a lot of New Yorkers, Joell Ortiz is a fresh breath of air in the hip hop world. He’s proud to represent his city and there is no mistaking that his music and rugged flow is strictly NYC-bred, a trend that is dying as New York’s influence on the current sound of hip hop is gradually slipping. He’s also a true fan of the genre, as evidenced by his most recent mixtape where he covered classic hip hop songs. Riding a huge wave of underground buzz a couple of years ago, Ortiz eventually found himself with a deal at Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. Being able to work with a music icon such as Dre would have been a dream come true for any aspiring MC, but disappointed with the stagnation for getting his own album into stores—a trait all too common with Aftermath, Ortiz asked for his release from one of the biggest hip hop labels in the game. Now, as a “free agent,” Ortiz is continuing to make music on his own terms with little worry of having his album pushed back. Besides the Slaughterhouse project, this is Joell Ortiz’s first album since the departure."

"Hey There, People At Soul Travelin Music
As followers, we understand that you (guys) run a very popular music blog but as admirers of good music, we would like to try and contribute more to it by submitting our newly released free album. The album is called "ABOVE&BEYOND" and it's a collaboration between Harlem Mc Ema-The-Kid & producer Origimoz, which in theory, symbolizes a journey of GROWTH & ACHIEVEMENT as creative artists. We take under the belief that TIME is an important factor that contributes to an artist potential to go ABOVE and BEYOND every thing he/she built - So we take on this journey using the music that we create for that achievement. "John Regan has grown into a label's dream. His qualities extend far beyond lyrical talent. John's work ethic is incredible and his understanding of the importance of the new media is essential. He spends countless hours each day building relationships with thousands of his label's affiliated DJs from across the world.
Working with Culture VI Records founder and manager Wil Loesel since the age of 15, Poizun has matured to a level that far exceeds most 23 year olds. Already a husband, a father and President of an independant record label, the Baltimore native has accepted many of the responsibilities of running the label. He was instrumental in coordinating collaborations with Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9" and Wordsworth on the labels latest release "ninety-four".
As a teenage graffiti artist, Poizun, whose moniker originated from the "Poisonous Vapors" warning written on every can of spray paint, would sprawl lyrics next to each of his tags. He's now augmenting those lyrics with music, as he readies his solo debut album "Sorry I'm Late". After impressive appearences on the label projects "Elite" and "ninety-four" the youngest member of Culture VI is ready to step away from his desk and onto the stage. We expect this to be the first of many projects in the young man's future."
"I was lying when i said i was ready to be taken away Not 'til the clouds is gone - long away from grey Knowing it won't rain where my babies stay"
If you haven't heard about John Regan it is about that time that you should now.. Don't be sleeping on this guy!

"Toro Y Moi is 23 year old Columbia, South Carolina native and resident Chaz Bundick. After earning a BFA in Graphic Design at The University of South Carolina, Chaz decided to push his music further now that he has more time on his hands. His mom came from the Phillipines to the United States, where she met her future husband (who's African American) in college. They lived in New York City taking in all the wonderful cultural influences the city's rising underground scene had to offer at the time (late 70s/early 80s). Deciding to slow down and be closer to family, they moved to Columbia, South Carolina where they had their first child...
Chaz Bundick's methods are constantly changing and evolving. Heavily influenced by his parent's vinyl and tape collection, he also possesses great admiration for contemporary influences like Animal Collective, Sonic Youth, J Dilla, and Daft Punk. Like most prepubescent teens, he had his punk band and once that died out, the "side project" soon became the main focus.
Toro y Moi started in 2001 as a bedroom project but quickly grew into the live performance realm. The songs are born from a plethora of different genres, from freak-folk to R&B to French House—which is heavily influential on Chaz's newest dance alias, Les Sins. Before any full length album has been released, Toro Y Moi has already received praise from music websites like Pitchfork and Gorilla Vs. Bear as well as upcoming print features in the NME and Dazed and Confused."
